My office uses many mobile computing devices with remote sensing equipment and downloading data interface. These activities often occur in harsh environments. We resistant notebook, such as Getac M220 and Panasonic Toughbook tried. They are heavy and slow. And we tried to PDAs, such as the HP iPaq. PDAs are not always easy to manage, and our older employees have difficulty reading the small screen. ASUS Eee PC fits between laptops and PDAs.
We have no data on the duration of the ASUS Eee. However, the price was worth a try once and for field use. Actually cheaper than the iPaq models were, were for sale. So far, our employees are very satisfied with these netbooks.
If we have an allegation of this device is that it does not use CD / DVD-ROM drive as a boot device. This makes it difficult to burn disk images with Symantec Ghost. But you can reload the operating system with a standard template using a connected USB device. Difficult, but possible.
